Since 2008 we've raised heirloom chickens: Barred Plymouth Rock, New Hampshire Red, Black Sex Link, Columbian Rock Cross, both for their eggs and meat. Guests love visiting with our "girls" and also enjoy the healthy, fresh eggs each morning. Some even enjoy awaking at the crack of dawn to the rooster's serenade, however raucous and persistent!
In 2009 we began raising Shorthorns, a breed of heirloom beef cattle. These beasts are easy on the land and a joy to watch and handle. Even better, our small herd will be expanding as the young calves come along in the early summer months!
All of our farm animals are raised in a pasture fed setting using managed rotational grazing methods. We use no growth hormones and use medical intervention only when absolutely necessary.
In the garden, our fruits and vegetables are grown for the enjoyment of our guests as well as for our own freezer. Our produce is raised without chemicals using organic/earth friendly practices.
We're excited by what's going on at Longlane. We learn new things every day. We invite you to visit, and look forward to sharing our story with you & and hearing yours too!
